My name is Steve Sutherland, a massive ice hockey fan who also happens to love taking photos.
I'm originally from Manchester, where I was a Manchester Storm fan until the team's demise in 2002. Now I'm living in Suffolk, my local team are the Chelmsford Chieftains of the National Ice Hockey League. I once decided to take my camera to a game and liked the results and for the following couple of seasons I took my camera and posted my photos anywhere and everywhere. I created Ice Cold Photography to coincide with the start of the 2015/16 season as a platform to showcase my Chieftains photos both on this website and also on Facebook and Twitter. Towards the end of the 2015/16 season I discovered Chelmsford Cobras, a team that plays in the Womens English Premier League, and managed to get to the last couple of games of their season. In summer of 2016, my ice hockey photos caught the attention of local Roller Derby team Killa Hurtz Roller Derby, who asked me to photograph some events on their behalf, which I have now also posted on this page. During the 2016/17 Ice Hockey season, we progressed from just displaying photos on this site and our Social Media outlets to writing Chieftains match reports not only for this site, but for the match night programmes, tweeting live updates from games, and keeping the news feed updated with as much as possible that is happening with the local teams we support as well as the NIHL and WPL in general. Now, with the 2016/17 season for both the Chieftains and Cobras consigned to the annals of history, and a new format for the NIHL in 2017/18, I'm looking forward to bringing you more photos and better photos than ever before. While I am, and always will be, predominantly a Chelmsford Chieftains & Chelmsford Cobras fan, I will also be trying to be neutral and impartial enough to keep you all updated with what's happening all around the NIHL South and WPL. I may also indulge myself and occasionally feature some occasional news from my first Ice Hockey love, Manchester Storm up in the dizzy heights of the EIHL.
During the summer months, I will also be photographing some cycling events, which I'm planning on displaying on this site. I'm also delighted to be getting my toes wet in the world of wedding photography in 2018.
If you have any events that you require a photographer for, please get in touch by clicking the envelope icon in the top right corner of this website. And, finally, as Ice Cold Photography moves into it's third year, I'd just like to extend a massive thank you to all the fans, players and staff of all the teams who have supported my venture.
